Mat Pilates can be done anywhere and if you want to practice what you’ve learnt at home, assemble the following “Home Pilates" kit.

1. Exercise mat

2. Head cushion

3. Exercise ball

4. Resistance band

5. Small weights

6. Water/towel

Apart from the exercise mat for which there is no substitute (sorry, but you HAVE to have a mat!), the other bits of kit can be substituted by easy to find around the house objects.

Head cushion: Used a folded towel under your skull to keep the head and neck aligned

Exercise ball: A firm, plump cushion will usually do the trick, or a large towel rolled up will also work

Resistance band: Where it’s used for support, a dupatta/long scarf or a soft belt will work. For those exercises needing the resistance, weights can be substituted (see below)

Small weights: A filled bottle of water that can be comfortably held in your hand. Minimum 1 litre. Slim bottles are the best as the fingers are able to wrap around it comfortably

You’re ready to rock and roll!

All small equipment listed above (except head cushion) can easily be found at either www.decathalon.in or www.amazon.in
